The extra daze alongside the ever growing damage makes him able to survive longer and hit very hard. The event runs every 4 weeks, and you can get 20 shards per toon. You can refresh any given tier twice for a crazy amount of crystals. So in theory you can get up to 60 shards/event, but it's costly.
